Brewster Co-op Newsletter

February 2004

"To help your children turn out well, spend twice as much time with them and
half as much money."

SPECIAL THANKS FROM Mrs. Tedeschi and Mrs. Caterina for all of our wonderful
valentines and gifts!!
THANKS TO - the CAREY family for donating toys and books!
--the  NILSEN family for donating bottled water for our snacks!
--the MELIAMBRO family for donating a Paddington Bear for a special pet!
--the PISCOPO family for donating a Moose Book, and numerous other items!
--MARGARET CAREY for creating a web page for us here at Brewster Co-op!
Check it out!!  Here is the website address:  www.brewstercoop.org

--CRÈME DE LA CRÈME for providing white bags for our Valentine goodie bags!

THANKS to of you who are considerate in keeping their child home from school if they show any signs of being sick.  If your child complains about not feeling well, and this is unusual for him/her, please investigate before sending them!

TOO MANY TOYS are being brought in to school by the children when it is not their special day!  Our rule is:  "No toys are to be brought unless it is your helping day."  The extra toys can cause problems in the classroom, as well as getting lost during clean-up time!  Thanks for your understanding!

WE LEARN MORE EACH DAY! What will the classes be doing after the Winter Recess?

***The Critters will continue a Self-Awareness unit. The unit teaches about body parts, five senses and feelings. We hope you will keep up the good work at home and continue to carry over school activities!! Beginning in March, why not talk about body parts while dressing or in the tub... especially "odd" parts like wrists, thighs, earlobes, palms, etc!  Keep praising your children, telling them how terrific and special they are and you'll have some very happy, well-adjusted children!!

***The TEDDY BEARS will be studying dinosaurs beginning in March. This is a great favorite, with dinosaur snacks, dinosaur hats, dinosaur songs, and more!  We are also starting to learn sight words!
The 4-year old classes will also begin learning birthdays, phone numbers and addresses.

Birthdays beginning March 1st
Phone numbers beginning March 15th
Addresses beginning March 29th

Teachers go to school, too! Both Mrs. Caterina and Mrs. Tedeschi have renewed their CPR certifications for infants, children, and adults!

We are finding a need for paper towels!  If you could please pick up an extra roll for us, it would be greatly appreciated!

We have a musician!  For those of you who have not met Kim Papa, she is a local musician who goes to preschools playing her guitar and singing songs with the children.  She is great, and the children and teachers love her!

Helping parents do, too!

Unfortunately, our parking lot can be an issue!  Please do not park in space #9 (to the left of the dumpster) because it is for a commuter.  If you know of a commuter in need of parking spaces, the church has two available.  Please call John Strain @ 279-3973 for details.

Volunteers needed!!  If you are interested in being on a soon to be created "publicity committee", please see Robin.  It is critical for our continued success to try to inform our community of our school.  Our purpose would be to brain storm different ideas to get the word out about how great Brewster Co-op is!!
